MEET THE ARTIST: JACKIE MOON | LEYLAND FESTIVAL 2025
“Introduce yourselves! Who are you, and what’s your act all about?”
“I’m Jackie Moon. Leyland born and bred. What began as playing records for my parents evolved into something more meaningful – a celebration of community through music. This year marks a decade in the game, and having my own stage at Leyland Festival is a testament to that journey.”
“What’s your history with Leyland Festival? Any standout memories?”
“Martin Carlin made this happen – a man who loves Leyland as much as I do. Getting the call up meant a lot.
But what stays with me are the stories. The generational threads – kids who walked Hough Lane now watching their grandchildren do the same. That’s the heartbeat of this town.”
“As a local artist, what makes playing at Leyland Festival special to you?”
“It’s about service. Playing what the people want, not what feeds your ego. Seeing Martin Deacon, a DJ I’ve mentored, coming into his own – that’s the real reward. This stage isn’t just mine; it’s Leyland’s.”
“Does your Lancastrian culture—its stories, places, or quirks—ever sneak into your music?”
“Absolutely. I like a microphone. It’s for recognising faces. The postman who’s worked these streets and loves Christmas. The regulars from Squires. These are the people who make the records sound right.”
“After your set, where’s the first place in Leyland you’re heading for a celebratory bite or pint?”
“The Ale House. The Lostheads. It just makes sense.”
“What’s your mission for this year’s festival? Give us a teaser of your set!”
“Let’s just say these next two festivals are significant.
Nothing lasts forever, so we’ll make this count. Leyland – bring your energy. I’ll bring the soundtrack.”
